The Ministry of Mines and Energy (MinEnergia) talked about a possible generalized power outage in Colombia.
The entity denied the information circulating on social networks of an alleged generalized cut in the electricity service in the country, Valora Analitik reported.
“Do not believe in WhatsApp chains that only seek to misinform! Always verify the information in official channels of companies and the Ministry!” the entity said.
The false information circulating on the internet indicates that there would be a supposed national blackout. In addition, it invites people to charge electronic equipment, such as cell phones, and carry flashlights.
Celsia (Grupo Argos energy subsidiary) denied the chain as well.
“We do not know their motivation and we appreciate avoiding sharing it,” the company said.
In Colombia, the authorities and the companies that provide the service have not reported any generalized power outages.
