The National Association for Sustainable Mobility (Andemos) published its monthly report on the behavior of the hybrid and electric vehicle market in April 2021. Here are the details.
Sales of these type of vehicles decreased 9% during in April 2021, compared to previous month, Andemos said.
This metric went from 998 vehicles in March 2021 to 909 during April 2021.
Andemos said that 719 Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV) were sold during April 2021, while sales were five same period last year. The industry sold 153 Plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) and 37 Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) in April this year.
It is important to recall that sales were 6,011 vehicles in 2020, 91.8% more compared to the previous year (3,134). This metric has been 3,651 during this year, 248.7% more compared to same period last year (1,047).
In April 2021, the best-selling brands were Toyota (367), Mercedez Benz (131), KIA (106), Suzuki (104) and Subaru (58).
Bottom-Line: Sales remain at a high level, despite the reduction compared to previous month. The issue may be the increased economic uncertainty in April.
However, this drop can be taken as an early warning sign to avoid starting a negative trend in sales.
