Electric vehicle market in May

The National Association for Sustainable Mobility (Andemos) published its monthly report on the behavior of the hybrid and electric vehicle market in May 2021. Here are the details.

Sales of these type of vehicles increased 19% during in May 2021, compared to previous month, Andemos said.

This metric went from 909 vehicles in April 2021 to 1,083 during May 2021.

Andemos said that 932 Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV) were sold during May 2021, while sales were 261 same period last year. The industry sold 92 Plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) and 59 Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) in May this year.

It is important to recall that sales were 6,011 vehicles in 2020, 91.8% more compared to the previous year (3,134). This metric has been 4,734 during this year, 238.6% more compared to same period last year (1,398).

In May 2021, the best-selling brands were Toyota (439), Suzuki (246), Ford (104), KIA (76) and Zhidou (35).

Bottom-Line: Sales remain at a high level, despite the national strike and political insecurity.

The market received good news about the type of connector for charging stations, and this could encourage sales of these vehicles.
