EPM made a statement on news reports of a possible seizure of its accounts.
Some national media have said that the First Civil Court of Bello ordered the seizure of EPM and Aguas Nacionales EPM’s accounts up to CoP$30B for damages generated by the construction of the Aguas Claras Plant, La Republica reported.
The company said that so far it has not been officially informed of any decision in this regard.
“EPM has not been notified or communicated to by any civil court of Bello about any precautionary measure for such facts so far,” the company said in a statement.
However, the firm acknowledged that it had access to informal documents that apparently are being processed in the First Civil Court.
“According to the known documents, apparently the First Civil Court has ordered the seizure of accounts, among others, of entities such as EPM and Aguas Nacionales EPM,” the firm said.
This alleged injunction arises from an action by a group of citizens who felt affected by the operation of the Aguas Claras Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) due to the proliferation of bad smells of chemicals and excrement for two years.
The company is awaiting detailed and formal notification of this information to be able to make an official statement.
