Itasol announced plans to expand in Latin America.
The company plans to play a leading role in the development and opportunities for distributed solar power generation in Latin America, Analitik reported.
Headquartered in Argentina, the firm has commercial operations in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru.
“The company is close to landing in the Central American markets,” Itasol’s Iván Crincoli said.
Crincoli said that there is strong growth in Brazil and Chile, and a “tsunami of opportunities” in Colombia. He said that Mexico is going through a moment of some uncertainty, but “the country is moving again”.
COO Franco Santarelli sajd that the company is “comfortable” with a scale of three to nine megawatts (MW), or 500kW.
“It is where we find facilities in terms of size and modularity of the parks, and where it is not complicated to do the work,” Santarelli said.
Santarelli said that the company is analyzing upcoming tenders in Chile and Colombia.
“We follow very closely all the bidding participants, working with the developers to bring our experience to each location,” Santarelli said.
The COO said that it is important to be updated for each case and to have good links with strategic allies to offer the best solution in each country.
“That is the differential, to try to innovate and not go for a standardized solution because at the end of the day there is a drop in efficiency in each project,” Santarelli said.
