Large cement companies joined in the commitment to reducing carbon emissions.
Cemex, Holcim and Argos bet on a low-emission cement, Portafolio reported.
Cementos Argos has products with low CO2 emissions and low-carbon products represent about 18% of its portfolio at present.
The company highlighted its green general-purpose cements, which have a 35% reduction in CO2 emissions compared to traditional Portland cement.
“We are aware of the challenges posed by sustainability in the construction field and how demanding it is to choose the right materials and services,” Cementos Argos Legal and Sustainability Vice President, Maria Echeverri, said.
Holcim Colombia is betting on its ECO Label system on its cement bags.
“Each stamp specifies the reduction in CO2, compared to an Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC),” CEO Marco Maccarelli said.
The company introduced ECOPact at the end of 2020, its sustainable concrete line with a reduction between 30% to 50%, compared to standard concrete.
Maccarelli highlighted that 40% of the products in its portfolio are committed to low emissions.
Cemex has a complete offer of cements and concretes with reductions from 30% to 100% in their polluting emissions.
Bottom-Line: All economic sectors are doing their part to combat climate change and reduce polluting emissions and this news is proof of this.
