MinEnergia wants hydro generators to lower rates because reservoirs are full

With reservoirs across Colombia running at elevated levels amid heavy ongoing rainfall, the Ministry of Mines and Energy issued Circular 40008 on February 10, 2026, calling on wholesale electricity market participants—particularly hydroelectric and low-cost technology generators—to embrace the Energy Commission's (CREG) new Low Prices by Technology rules and translate hydrological conditions into lower tariffs for end users.
