OCAD Paz approved new energy projects in several regions of the country.

Authorities approved 28 projects that will bring energy service to 11,259 families, Portafolio reported.

OCAD Paz explained that 22 projects correspond to solar solutions that benefit 9,962 families, and 6 electrical networks projects of the National Interconnected System (SIN) for 1,297 families in Bolívar, Caquetá, Guaviare and Nariño.

The total approved investment is CoP$223B from the Allocation for Peace of the General Royalties System (SGR), which will provide benefits in 8 departments of the country (Bolivar, Caqueta, Sucre, Guaviare, Meta, Cesar, Putumayo and Nariño).

“Royalties’ resources continue to bring welfare, development and contribute to the closing of gaps in the regions of Colombia,” Minister of Mines and Energy (MinEnergia) Diego Mesa said.

Authorities have approved 126 projects for the expansion of energy coverage with an investment of CoP$1.2T, to benefit more than 62,000 families in rural areas of the country.

In addition, the project for the technological upgrade of Cartagena’s intelligent air quality monitoring system was approved for CoP$886M.

Bottom-Line: Authorities must guarantee the proper execution of these resources, as acts of corruption and mismanagement with these resources have been commonplace in Colombia.
