Northland Power acquires EBSA

Brookfield had announced an agreement with the Colombian state for the acquisition of EBSA in December 2012. Now, Northland Power has announced a purchase contract with Brookfield to acquire the Colombian company.

According to La Republica, Northland Power Inc. announced the signing of a stock purchase agreement with the Brookfield Colombia Private Equity Capital Fund to acquire about 99% of EBSA’s shares for a CoP$2.6T value.

It is important to remember that Brookfield had acquired the Colombian state energy company in the privatization process in December 2012.

EBSA distributes energy in the department of Boyacá, serving more than 1.3 million users in 123 municipalities.

Northland Power is a public company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange and its core business is the development, construction, administration and operation of energy infrastructure assets globally.

The Canadian company has a portfolio of generation assets of more than 2,400MW in operation and 1,400MW in development and construction

Northland makes its first transaction in the Colombian energy sector with the acquisition of EBSA; Inverlink and CIBC were financial advisors to the Canadian firm.
