Probably not many readers younger than 65 have seen the movie “The Graduate” or remember the scene in a cocktail party where a family friend whispers in the recent-graduate’s ear “One word: plastics”. At that time, 1967, plastics were indeed the great opportunity for a young person just out of university. Not so much these days.
