The Porvenir fund reported its sustainability progress under GRI standards.
Among the environmental initiatives of Porvenir, the planting of 10,000 trees in deforested areas stands out, Semana reported.
“By using the GRI methodology, the Porvenir Fund presents itself as a responsible organization with its environment and its stakeholders, but also as an open-door entity,” the report said.
The company published its first sustainability report, following the Essential GRI methodology, which guarantees the transparency of its results associated with its environmental, social, economic, and good governance management.
“Affiliates, employers, pensioners, communities, suppliers, public opinion and society in general can consult this report freely on the website. There are details of the actions, results and challenges raised on issues such as value offer, responsible investment, financial education, community development and talent management, among others,” Bernardo Sánchez, Marketing Manager of the Porvenir Pension and Severance Fund, said.
Timothy Mohin, Executive Director of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), said that corporate social responsibility consisted of signing a check, doing philanthropy, and making donations, but this changed.
“Now it is about business integration, and corporate leaders have these skills at present. They have to understand the context around them and how they can achieve goals in that same area,” Mohin explained.
The Pension Fund adhered to the Principles of Responsible Investment supported by the UN, becoming the 50th signatory to join in Latin America.
In addition, the company joined the Colombian Business Council for Sustainable Development of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (CECODES).
“Porvenir becomes the first Pension and Severance Fund to join this Council, contributing to the consolidation of an equitable, supportive, and sustainable old-age protection system,” the report said.
The company highlighted the strengthening of its digital channels, achieving that 97% of the transactions were made through these means.
Porvenir managed to answer 100% of the complaints reported through the ethics line.
