Terpel announced the inauguration of a new self-generation energy project at a service station.

The company installed 251 solar panels at the ‘La Vallenata’ service station in Valledupar, La Republica reported.

Terpel will autonomously generate about 17,200 kWh per month, or 206,000 kWh per year, which is equivalent to the energy consumed by 391 households in 12 months.

The company will be able to replace about 53% of the energy required by the station for its operation, thanks to these panels.

This initiative is part of the organization’s plan to promote the use of alternative energy sources in its operations, generate close to 1.5GWh/year of solar energy in five projects and reduce polluting emissions.

“This is in addition to the efforts we have made in terms of energy efficiency in our work centers, with which we have managed to contribute to the reduction of emissions,” Terpel’s Óscar Bravo said.

The company plans to install solar panels at four additional stations, increasing its installed capacity to around 838kWp.

Bottom-Line: Companies across all sectors continue to move forward with their energy transition plans. Undoubtedly, solar energy is positioned as the most attractive alternative in this process.
