Universidad Nacional and Gensa announced the installation of solar panels in the facilities of the academic entity.
Gensa is building a photovoltaic solution connected to the main grid of the facilities in blocks H and K of the Palogrande campus in Manizales, Caracol Radio reported.
This project is managed under the small-scale self-generation model, and its purpose is to generate 121 KWp of renewable energy.
This initiative includes the installation of 298 monocrystalline panels and an investment of CoP$649M.
It is estimated that this clean energy generation scheme will reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 28.7 tons, while saving CoP$108M each year.
Bottom-Line: Renewable energies have a place in all sectors of the country and academic institutions are beginning to venture into this alternatives.
Undoubtedly, solar projects continue to position themselves as the main renewable energy alternative for self-generation in the country.
