The weather phenomenon known as “El Niño” is a “trending topic” with both the local press and global newspapers expressing concern. From the Economist to El Tiempo, experts worry that this edition of the periodic but unpredictable warming of the Pacific Ocean could be the worst yet, as it interacts with higher-than-normal temperatures on both sides of the equator. Colombian politicians and industry leaders worry that electricity prices will go up. But so far, we have not seen much statistical evidence of the event.
