Ziklo Solar is a company from Antioquia that has close to 600 projects in the country.

Tomas Velez, co-founder of the company, said that Ziklo Solar developed the solar self-generation system at PCP (Partes y Complementos Plásticos) which is the largest distributed self-generation system in the area, La Republica reported.

The installation completely covers the roof of the plant and generates 669 kilowatts of power. This represents a replacement of 25.6% of the total energy consumption.

The project represented investments of CoP$1.5B and lasted eight months.

Vélez highlighted that all the facilities are connected to the National Interconnected System (SIN) so they do not use batteries.

“We can even be in surplus when the energy is not consumed,” the executive added.

Ziklo has been operating in Colombia since 2012 and has installed 13MW in total over around 600 projects. Its main operation is in Medellín, but it has a presence in Atlántico, Eje Cafetero, Nariño, Valle, and Cundinamarca, among other departments.

Its revenue has reached CoP$20B, of which 90% corresponds to the industrial segment and the rest to homes.

Alejandro Arbeláez, Director of Innovation and Development, said that there is a large volume of works in homes, but of small size, so they are not relevant in terms of revenue.

“Every week, we do about four projects,” Arbelaez said.

Arbelaez said that the company expects to put 12MW into operation next year, so that by the end of 2022 it will have 25MW of capacity.
