What Colombia’s presidential election might mean for the energy sector

Whoever takes office on August 7 inherits an electricity sector in apparent crisis -- a gas shortage driving thermal generators toward dirtier combustion, a Caribbean coast distributor on the brink of financial collapse, an ambitious renewable project pipeline that cannot find commercial closure, and a fiscal hole that makes all of the above harder to fix.
