Alquería achieved certification as a B Company, and got the Portafolio award in the category of Environmental Promotion 2021.

The company has consolidated its environmental sustainability strategy ‘Planeta Larga Vida’ during the last few years, Portafolio reported.

Alqueria seeks to consolidate with its team of collaborators, suppliers, contractors, clients and consumers.

Dream Coordinator, Carlos Enrique Cavelier, explained that the plan has four fundamental pillars: energy and climate change, circular economy, water and sustainable livestock.

“As a company we want to decrease our ecological footprint along the value chain, which is why in 2019, we communicated our commitment to be a carbon neutral company by 2030,” Cavelier said.

Between 2017 and 2020, the firm managed to reduce its corporate carbon footprint by about 16%.

“We have been building a work path, through which we will link efficiency projects and decarbonization of our production processes and the internal and external promotion of unconventional renewable energy sources. This will enable us to achieve more efficient and sustainable production,” Cavelier explained.

Alqueria highlighted that its industrial wastewater treatment plants have efficiencies greater than 99%. In addition, the company has achieved a 17% reduction of containers and packaging placed on the market, which represents a total of 790 tons of plastic less in the environment in the period 2018-2020.

Bottom-Line: Companies from all economic sectors are joining the energy transition process, and demonstrating this with actions.

The government must help companies by providing a solid regulatory framework and incentives to move forward and meet the goals.
