The Corporación Autónoma Regional del Atlántico (CRA) is running a pilot project to generate electricity from the current of the Magdalena River using a hydrokinetic turbine – a technology that extracts energy from flowing water without requiring a dam or reservoir, and therefore without significantly altering the river's natural dynamics.
