María Isabel Echeverri, Vice President of Sustainability at Argos, spoke about the responsible use of energy in the company.
Echeverri told La Republica that two of the Argos plants in the US were recognized for their commitment to reducing and using energy efficiently.
The expert said that the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) again awarded ENERGY STAR® certification to cement plants located in Harleyville, South Carolina, and Calera, Alabama.
She highlighted that these distinctions ratify Argos’ environmental commitment and its position as one of the most relevant companies in the sector in this country.
“We are pleased to receive this distinction that confirms our commitment to sustainability and validates our practices in this area. The responsible energy use is a key pillar of our Environmental strategy,” Echeverri said.
Echeverri said that the company works on the development and implementation of technologies to make efficient energy use and to manage it strategically.
The Harleyville plant in South Carolina is also notable for its cement grinding, which operates with about half the energy consumption of a traditional plant.
The Roberta Plant (Calera) has an installed capacity of more than 1.5 million tons per year and has been historically recognized for implementing, to a great extent, alternative fuels, and energy optimization processes.
