The Ministry of Energy (MinEnergia) gave a balance on the interest in the next renewable energy auction in Colombia.
The entity said that 107 companies registered for the auction of renewable energies in Colombia, of which 55 are buyers and 52 sellers, Valora Analitik reported.
That balance exceeds the records of the 2019 auction, which had 39 sellers and 29 buyers.
Colombia’s third renewable energy auction is underway; last August 27th, the registration process ended and the calendar is still running.
Between September 3rd and 6th, registrants must submit pre-qualification documentation for XM to evaluate compliance with the requirements.
Then, the operator may request additional information, which applicants may fill out until September 22nd.
XM is expected to inform registrants if they will continue in the process by the 24th of September.
“We see a promising outlook for the new renewable energy auction, which will allow us to continue the diversification of our electricity matrix and Colombia’s energy transition, which is the legacy for the country’s present and future,” MinEnergia Diego Mesa highlighted.
Bottom-Line: The Colombian government has managed to attract the investors’ interest in the renewable energy sector, thanks to new policies and incentives to invest in this industry.
The country’s potential is huge in this area, and it seems like Colombia is on the right track to boost this important industry.
