EPM Group extended the exemption from the payment of the energy solidarity contribution to companies in the tourism, parks and lodging sector in Colombia.
This is in accordance with Law 2155 of September 14th, 2021, issued by the Colombian Congress, Portafolio reported.
With this decision, the collection of the surcharge or special contribution in the electricity sector, corresponding to 20% of the total value of the service billed for all business customers who are active and current tourism service providers in the National Tourism Registry (RNT), is temporarily suspended until December 31st, 2022.
“Business customers who, according to Law 2068 of December 31st, 2020, issued by the Congress of Colombia, submitted documentation and have the benefit of the exemption until December 31, 2021, will have the validity of this benefit automatically extended until December 31, 2022,” EPM said through a statement.
It is important to note that it is the responsibility of the users to inform EPM if they change their economic activity, to determine the continuity of the exemption of the solidarity contribution.
Bottom-Line: An excellent decision to support one of the sectors hardest hit by the pandemic, and to continue promoting economic reactivation in the country.
