Hitachi Energy announced the addition of the EconiQ transformer portfolio, aiming for carbon neutrality.
This with the aim of promoting a more sustainable energy future for industry and consumers, Valora Analitik reported.
These transformers are eco-efficient by design and based on scientific methodologies for transparency.
EconiQs aim for carbon neutrality, a goal set out in its “Sustainability 2030” strategic plan.
It is important to remember that Hitachi Energy announced that it is championing the urgency of the energy transition through pioneering technologies to help accelerate a carbon-neutral future.
The company said that transformers are key to enabling a flow of electricity by adapting voltage levels.
“EconiQ transformers bring additional environmental value in the areas of decarbonization, increased safety for people, ecosystem protection and responsible use of resources throughout the transformer lifecycle,” Hitachi said.
The company said that these transformers will be tailored to the customer’s specific sustainability requirements.
Hitachi expects one of the EconiQ transformers, in the 115/21 kilovolt (KV) voltage range, and rated at 40 megavolt-amperes (MVA), to reduce carbon emissions by approximately 23% over its life cycle.
The company has set targets in its Sustainability 2030 plan to become carbon neutral in its own operations and expects to achieve the first step goal of 100% fossil-free electricity in its own operations by 2022.
