The National Association for Sustainable Mobility (Andemos) published its monthly report on the behavior of the hybrid and electric vehicle market in July 2021. Here are the details.
Sales of these type of vehicles decreased 11% during in July 2021, compared to previous month, Andemos said.
This metric went from 2,156 vehicles in June 2021 to 1,915 during July 2021.
Andemos said that 1,730 Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV) were sold during July 2021, while sales were 241 same period last year. The industry sold 106 Plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) and 79 Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) in July this year.
It is important to recall that sales were 6,011 vehicles in 2020, 91.8% more compared to the previous year (3,134). This metric has been 8,805 so far this year, 301% more compared to same period last year (2,198).
In July 2021, the best-selling brands were Toyota (843), Suzuki (248), FORD (236), Subaru (124) and Mercedes Benz (115).
Bottom-Line: Sales continue at good levels, despite the recent decrease. However, the country needs a major effort to improve the charging infrastructure in the short term, as this may inhibit sales.
