Enel Green Power Colombia announced progress in the development of the solar park ‘La Loma’.

This facility is the largest solar park under construction in the country, La Republica reported.

The company said that this project is 30% complete at present.

Enel is building a high voltage line of approximately 1.43km in length, which will connect the substation to the National Interconnected System (SIN).

The project, located in the department of Cesar, will have interconnected more than 400,000 solar panels, achieving an installed capacity of 187MWdc.

“With an investment of more than US$126M and a generation of 420GWh for 20 years. ‘La Loma’ will become the largest solar park in Colombia, a title currently held by ‘El Paso’, another Enel Green Power project in the department,” Adrian Dugulan, Head of Business Development of the firm in Colombia, said.

The expert said that this reaffirms the company’s commitment to the diversification of the energy matrix.

Based on the progress so far, the company estimates that it could be operational in the second half of 2022.

Bottom-Line: Authorities must accompany and support the company to continue advancing in this important project for the region and the country.

The entry into operation of this type of project will help reduce uncertainty about possible energy shortage if Hidroituango does not start operations.
