The Institute for Planning and Promotion of Energy Solutions for Non-Interconnected Zones (IPSE) reported energy consumption in the country’s non-interconnected zones (ZNI) in August this year.
The entity said that the daily energy demand for these zones was 32,458MWh in August, 28% more compared to same period last year, according to a press release.
This metric increased 0.96% compared to previous month.
It is important to recall that the entity focuses on the quality and availability of electrical energy service, in 111 localities.
“In San Andres and Unguia there is an increase of more than 46% in consumption as a result of the economic recovery,” the entity said.
The IPSE highlighted that 54% of the energy generated in the ZNI is concentrated in San Andres and approximately 3.7% of the energy registered corresponds to localities with consumption of less than 100,000kWh
Bottom-Line: It is positive to see that the upward trend in energy demand in the ZNI continues, demonstrating that the new generation sources are meeting energy needs in a timely manner.
