The Colombian government announced the hydrogen roadmap, generating comments by energy experts.

Mendoza’s founding partner, Mateo Mendoza, explained that blue and green hydrogen have an important relevance globally and nationally, Valora Analitik reported.

“This is due to their sustainability and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions,” he said.

Mendoza added that this has generated considerable investment intention from various entities.

“This added to government incentives, evidences a clear purpose to promote the research, development and installation of hydrogen plants,” Mendoza highlighted.

In addition, Colombia has the necessary natural resources, strategic geographic positioning and compatible infrastructure to develop the implementation of hydrogen as an unconventional renewable source.

“The country has adopted various measures aimed at generating an environment for investment in the low-emission hydrogen sector, which is estimated to produce an exponential increase in such investments between 2020 and 2050,” Mendoza highlighted.

The expert explained that the hydrogen roadmap is the beginning of the opening of a highly competitive market with several investment opportunities in the medium and long term.

Bottom-Line: The development of hydrogen in Colombia is a bet for the long term, but authorities should start now to train and develop expertise on this important resource for the country’s energy future.
