The National Environmental Licensing Agency (ANLA) granted an environmental license to ISA’s Sabanalarga – Bolívar 500kV transmission line project.
The ANLA considered that this project is vital to guarantee the supply of energy in the country, especially for the departments of Bolívar and Atlántico and for their economic reactivation, Valora Analitik reported.
“The contribution of this project to electrical connectivity is fundamental to reactivate the economy of the regions affected by the pandemic,” ANLA’s Rodrigo Suárez said.
Suárez said that this project will strengthen the National Interconnected System (SIN), the unconventional sources of renewable energy and promote the development and well-being of families in these departments of the Colombian Caribbean.
This line will facilitate the interconnection and transmission to the SIN of the Guayepo, Atlántico Photovoltaic and Bosques Solares de Bolívar solar energy projects.
The ANLA has six licensing procedures for electric power transmission system projects in the country at present.
Bottom-Line: The entity must find a way to accelerate the environmental licensing processes for large projects, as the sector is ready to start developing them.
