XM interim general manager Juan Carlos Morales laid out the electricity system's core vulnerability heading into El Niño: expected peak demand could exceed 265 GWh on some days, against roughly 118 GWh of thermal firm-energy obligations and around 20 GWh of daily solar – leaving hydro to cover the remaining 120-140 GWh, with no assurance about how long the dry period will last.
